A Motor Inn With No Pretensions

We have stayed at a number of hotels in wildwood crest and have been repeat customers at the yankee clipper. Considering that wildwood crest is a town with no pretensions, this motel fits right in. It has a great location with a baseball field next door, is only 1 block from the beach, has a lovely heated & clean pool, and activites such as ping pong, mini golf, and a game room. The moderately sized room suffices if you'll be out of the room all day playing. But, the rooms are too small for a family of 4 (with two teens). Even this hotels most rabid fans can't disagree that this place needs an upgrade. For those of us who get a 2nd or 3rd story room, there are no luggage carts and no elevator. Starting a trip going back and forth 9-10 times with beach gear from the car up those cracked stairs is not a fun way to start a vacation. There are no amenities in the standard rooms such as a coffee maker or microwave. The ping pong paddles are missing their coating, and are simply splintered, cracked wood. Yes, the rooms are of the "do-wop" era, but it doesn't mean that rusted, rattling air conditioners, faded carpets, bed covers and paintings can't be upgraded. Considering that summer rates are not in the bargain range, as a frequent traveler, i expect more for my money, and i can get it at other hotels at the shore.

Great Motel

The yankee clipper is clean and safe. The owner is very attentive to the needs of the guest! We stay there every year for harley owners week! She always makes sure that the guests have everything they need and want! Don't listen to the "bad posts" - it's a motel at the jersey shore - not the four seasons! We love it!
