I was very dissatisfied with my experience at this motel. I have been staying in Wildwood Crest for over 30 years and have stayed at several motels. I have never had any concerns with any motel until now. First, I took a day trip to Wildwood and looked at various motels to stay at with my family. I paid a security deposit and paid another amount of the bill at a later date. Two days before our vacation, I called the motel and confirmed our reservations. Upon arriving at the motel, the manager/owner stated matter-of-factly that someone had called and cancelled our reservation and that she gave our room away. The motel was sold out as it was a very busy time of the season so she couldn't offer another room. The woman was extremely rude and ushered my family out of the lobby. I do not believe at all that anyone cancelled our reservation, but instead, given all the no-vacancies during this high peak season, someone else most likely agreed to pay a higher rate. Since I secured the rate during the winter season, I was given a reduced rate for the week. Whereas, someone who pulls up is sure to pay more. My family and I drove around for over an hour until we found a vacant motel. Then, it was only vacant for 3 days. Afterward, we had to leave this motel and find another motel for the additional 3 days. I will never stay (or try to stay) at the Tangiers motel again. I rather go off shore and sleep in a dive motel off the beaten track! Motels in the Crest where I've stayed and really enjoyed: Nassau Inn, Cape Cod Inn, Water's Edge, Attache, Gondelier.

Decent Motel

My family and i have been staying at tangiers ofr about 8 years now. Back in 2004 new owners took over and were terrible for that one year. In 2005 we stayed there because the other hotel we were looking at was booked, but management had improved greatly. As for the motel itself: the rooms did not smell at all and seemed very clean, we received clean towels each day and the motel was in a fairly good location at 1 block from the beach. The pool is wonderful, probably on of the biggest in the crest and was clean (except for one corner, but that's ok.) The motel had a sundeck which was in ok condition. The breakfast place at the motel was very good and had good prices. Room service was a bit dicey as they would wait for you to vacate your room and also came at completely different times each day. For a 2 double bed room with no kitchen it was $140 which is just a bit steep; compared to other motels in the area though, it's pretty good. All in all, i would say if you're going to spend the entire day at the motel, then stay somewhere nicer. If you're like my family and are out of the room for most of the time, then it's great.

Fine, Comfortable, Classic Motel

I just returned from a weekend stay at the tangiers and overall it was a pleasent expeirence. The rooms were quite comfortable for the time we spent there. The staff was very polite and curtious(bruce, the owner was able to upgrade our room at no extra cost because of a small lighting problem). The pool was clean and well heated and the doo-wop coffee shop served a very good breakfast. The hotel itself, is a classic of the mid to late 50's look that made wildwood crest famous. Sadly these old hotels are very rapidly becoming an endangered species but the tangiers will soldier on into the 2006 season, which makes me quite happy. Give the tangiers a shot if you are heading down to the crest, I truly enjoyed myself and look forward to seeing the wonderful staff and staying a few days longer in '06. Thanks for a great stay!!
