I was quoted a price $195.00 per night originally. I made a reservation for 3 rooms and gave a credit card deposit of $250 per room for a total of $750.00. When i called back to confirm the reservation the week before my arrival on 8/24/05 i was told that the price was $250.00 per night not $195.00 as told originally. I could not cancelled at this point because maria tanglia shalimar staff told me that if i cancelled, shalimar motel would keep my deposit of $750.00. On 8/24/05, me and 5 other members of my family including my 9 year old daughter travelled 4 hours to get to shalimar motel as planned. My wife and i expressed our discontent about the price change to maria tanglia at the front desk. Maria, was the rudest person i have ever dealt with in my traveling experience and were told take it or leave it, this is the way it is. I asked to speak to the owner or manager in charge and was told that there was nobody else but maria tanglia. I said to maria tanglia i would stay there but would dispute the difference in price with my credit card company and complain about her rudeness. At this point maria tanglia, shalimar staff said that she was cancelling our reservation without a care in the world that my family and i had no place to stay and probably would not be able to find another motel in such short notice. I was in disbelief, i had travelled 4 hours away to relax and enjoy a few days off with my family and now had no place to stay and was left on the street like a dog. It was a nightmare trying to find another motel but eventually we did. We stayed at a family owned place called the gold crest motel two blocks down the street from shalimar motel for $110.00 cheaper. Now, i am in the process of disputing my deposit of $750.00 with my credit card company and also writing to the better business bureau about this awful experience. Please think twice before staying at shalimar motel. It was terrible!

We stayed at the shalimar for 4 nights the last week of august. We stayed on the 4th floor in the new townhomes. The rooms were spotless and we had 2 private decks. I would stay here again, the crowd was nice as well. It is a shame they were not able to complete their renovations in time for the entire summer season, but they are complete now and I would give them a try. You won't be sorry.

Awful Customer Service, Policies and Practice

Shalimar stuck hundreds of families last summer. Renovations should have been finished in early june. Our family was called on a friday night and told that we have no where to stay for that sunday (2 day notice)!!!! They said, "come get your deposit". No sorry, we will discount your next stay, let us buy you dinner...nothing. Just rude nasty employees and a no-show manager. ***by the way...maria (employee mentioned in the last post) is not an employee, she is an owner that pretends to be an employee****we found another motel that was cheaper, cleaner and nicer. These folks need to find a clue and rebuild thier business after a horrible renovation. No one wants to stay with an unfriendly, money hungry motel. You can fix it up all you want but the damage you did in the summer of 05 to some long time customers can never be repaired. We gave you months to send us some type of "i'm sorry" and obviously you just don't care about your customers. Save time and money and look elsewhere!
