What A Stay!!!!

We just got home from seaside heights after 4 days at the hershey motel. It was very clean and the staff was very friendly. The pool was big and clean . Every morning we woke up the staff was cleaning all the rooms with new towels, washclothes and sheets. There was a big arcade for the children. The pool and the game room was opened until 11pm. They also had a dinner that was very good and resonable. If you plan to go to seaside you must experience the hershey motel. You will enjoy it and get your money worth. They also have security that watches over the rooms all night long. See you next summer hershey!!!!

Our room smelled horrible..like mold/mildew. We were told all the rooms smell. We went ot the store and bought fabreeze and lysol. Our windows had no screens or locks. The box sping under one of the so called mattresses was totally in peices. Sheets and pillows were staind with god knows what. Could not wait to leave... And would not stay again if it was free.

I have written a review of the hershey before and would like to provide an update. While we do continue to go there as we have for many years, i think it is more out of nostalgic reasons. We noted from the outside that this year the entire first floor of the 2-bedroom side had new air conditioners, something that has been needed badly for years. Unfortunately, we were on the third floor where the duct taped units were still in force. It is not just the aesthetic value, but functionally, the units do not work and during this particularly hot summer, it was very uncomfortable. The cleaning staff do as much as they can to ensure your room looks clean and assumes you will never look in hard to see places. Maintenance issues continue to be a problem - missing/burnt out lightbulbs, broken furniture and probably the only instance i can think of where the tvs do not have remotes in the last 8 or so years. The walkway on the third floor (fiberglass maybe) does not work and is in serious need of repair/replacement. While we were there, we noted the staff removing and replacing mattresses in the 1-bedroom building. Very glad to see there is an effort being made which was not apparent previously. I think the musty dampness is somewhat inherent at shore motels, however functioning air conditioners would go a long way toward resolving this. The restaurant changed owners recently and is more of diner type atmosphere. One of the things we enjoyed in prior years was the restaurant and his speacials. The owner was a great guy and really good cook. Went to buddy holly's (the new place) and it was just ok. We will likely continue coming to seaside for the kids, however i think we may look at some of the tripadvisor higher rated places here. Too bad because there is a lot of potential here.

Motel staff was about the nicest thing about the place. Pool was alot smaller than the pictures showed. When we arrived, pool was really cloudy. Decided to brave it anyway. Lasted only approximately 6 minutes after we discovered someone had puked in the pool and the remnants were floating on top. Room temperature was good (newer conditioner). Chain lock was held on by one screw. Some blinds to window were missing. Had to hang up bed blanket for privacy. Cleaning staff missed the food that was left in the microwave. (thank god we didn't need to use it). Bathroom sink handle came off when you went to turn on the water. Black mold on ceiling in shower stall. Noise of shower radiated throughout room. Carpets need to be steam cleaned, our feet became dirty just by walking around room. Beds were rock-hard. Son slept in room chairs hoping to sleep better. Game room was ok. Restaurant was overpriced. This was our first experience at the jersey shore. We aren't making plans to go back.

Stayed for two nights rented for three,but had to leave early due to an emergency at home,and they refused to refund the charge for the third night!! I have never stayed at a motel/hotel where I could not get a refund. Seems like their ethics are questionable!! I would not stay there again if they paid me!! Do yourself a favor and look at other options!! Don't stay there.
