I'd rate everything about this motel as 2*, but for a beach vacation, it's location and relative value drag it up to the 4* range. We've been going there for years and highly value it's convenience to the boardwalk and beach. No long, hot tiring treks carrying all the beach gear up and back. Want a time out, quick nap, or bathroom stop? Your room is almost as close as the yucky boardwalk public baths. The boardwalk vendors within a block or 2 on eitther side offer some wonderful eating delights from terrific latte's, sorbets, and tiramisu 2 doors north, to the best pizza and cheese fries 1 block south (angelos). It's all so handy, you won't feel any need to drive anywhere. The rooms are larger than the average motel room, but otherwise are undistinguished. Fairly typical 60's motel, that is a bit rough around the edges, but acceptably maintained. Have had some mimor maintenance issues in the past that their crew addressed rapidly enough for us. We're there for the beach and boardwalk, so we don't feel a need for a fancy resort hotel. Any other ocnj hotel with similar convenience factor is much more expensive, so the value is there, despite the rather average accomodations.put another way, after 20yrs of going there, even though we could afford better, we really don't want to. We're in the grandparent stage now and need two rooms to get our tribe together there every year, so the value is still very important to us.
