"Congress Hall - Not that great!"
By Beth of Allamuchy, NJ on Tuesday, December 15, 2009

Visitor Review
Our room was not that great. The bed was so uncomfortable that my husband and I had a difficult time getting any sleep for the two nights we were there. The pillows were very thin, not fluffy - my advice, bring your own. The bathroom needed maintenance - holes in the wall from where the doorknob hit, tub caulking was peeling, carpet was extremely worn. I wouldn't stay here again. I would like to add that the staff was very attentive and the room was clean just really worn.

"Superb accommodations"

The ambience and appointments are in keeping with the beachfront resort, a terrific combination of period charm and contemporary comfort. Attentive service throughout our stay, and the facilities for dining, fitness, and entertainment hit just the right note. The cocktail lounge is one of the best in this seaside locale.

"Second stay better than the first"
By Anonymous on Thursday, October 01, 2009

Visitor Review
We stayed at the Congress Hall for the second time in 2 years. The first time we had an ocean-view room, and this time we tried the a town-view room. The town-view room was much better for us because we didn't get the late-night noise from the weddings that go on every weekend there like the ocean-view rooms. Since we prefer to sleep with the windows open instead of with the AC on, the town-view was much better. As our stay before, the room was spacious and very clean and the hotel in general is maintained very well.

"Great Room and Location"
By Anonymous on Monday, July 06, 2009

Visitor Review
Got this hotel for about 1/2 off and didn't know what to expect. Room was large and very clean. Bathroom was very large as well. They set you up on the beach when you walk down, so no need to bring towels, chairs, umbrellas, etc. Pool was also very nice with a bar adjacent. Very happy with the hotel and the price paid.

"Succesful Wedding Weekend"
By Anonymous on Thursday, June 25, 2009

Visitor Review
Frends and family from accross the country joined us here to celebrate my daughter's wedding. The venue was perfect and everyone raved about the location, setting and the food. We continued the celebration at the Boiler Room downstairs and at brakfast at the Blue Pig Tavern in the hotel. The rooms were perfect and the ocean view was fantastic. We would highly recommend this hotel for special events or just to enjoy a relaxing stay in a great location.

"Bedding Worth The Money!"
By Anonymous on Saturday, June 13, 2009

Visitor Review
If you want to sleep in quality comfort then spend the money to stay at Congress Hall; you will melt in the bed linens which are also available for purchase in their gift shop. The Cape Resort Group operate with specific standards and they live up to these standards. I also love how they kept the integrity of the aged building but modernized the rooms; but still enjoying the origional doors and windows. Great relaxing stay and would go back!

"Great Stay"
By Anonymous on Saturday, June 06, 2009

Visitor Review
We had a great stay at the Congress even with cold and rainy weather. Room is spacious and looks onto the lawn, with diagonal view of the ocean. It was worth paying extra to have the view instead of looking out onto the street side. The Blue Pig is a great place to have lunch, food and service are both good. It was rainy during our stay, so we didn't make use of the beach (right across the street) or the pool. The spa was still under construction during our stay. Definitely recommend the hotel.

We had a lovely stay at the Congress Hotel. The room was very clean and the view of the ocean was very pretty. The bed was comfortable and there were plenty of towels available to us. I only suggest that they include an in room coffee maker for convenience. I would recommend this hotel highly.

"...simply great!"

This would be our fourth time at Congress Hall and it keeps improving! The Blue Pig Tavern is an outstanding restaurant with great service. When we arrived this last time it seemed like they had upgraded us to a suite. We love the surrounding area stores and sights such as the American West Store, the Cape May Lighthouse and the Cape May-Lewes Ferry. When it came time to rest, we found our room to be very inviting. We highly recommend a stay at this historic landmark.

"Great location for the money in a great port town"
By Anonymous on Saturday, May 02, 2009

Visitor Review
The overall experience was very enjoyable. Some things exceeded our expectations like the complimentary valet parking. The cocktail lounge was very comfortable, the on-site restaurant was also decent. The room was well lit and comfortable and the staff was friendly. The location of the hotel right on the beach and in the midst of a quaint neighborhood added to charm and appeal. We visited the hotel in the off season so the prices were really good but some of the amenities were not accessible because they were being upgraded or newly introduced in time for the seasonal crowd. There was also some construction going on which we could have done without.

"Stay at Congress Hall"

Very nice hotel. Negatives were room was outside housekeeping, and could hear water running from nearby rooms, so somewhat noisy; very low water pressure in bathroom sink; no dvd player as advertised. Have stayed at Congress Hall on numerous occasions, and this room was not one of the better ones.

This hotel is incredible and I wouldn't want to stay any place else for my future visits to cape may. Our room had an ocean view and you could hear the waves during the night. Since everything has recently been rennovated, everything is new but done in old style. The room and bathroom were immaculate. The bed was so comfortable!!!! Basically it was a dream stay. It isn't cheap but it is worth it. This is the best hotel i've ever stayed in.

Congress Hall Is Great
By Anonymous on Thursday, June 15, 2006

Visitor Review
I really enjoyed my stay at the congress hall hotel. However I will warn that someone who is into "modern conveniences" may not agree. The hotels bathrooms are small and you still use an actual key to get into your room, but in my opinion it all adds to the charm. The bed is very comfortable and the rooms are all decorated and painted in bright, beachy colors. The staff at the pool was amazing and the food in the hotel was fabulous as well.

New Years Weekend In Chamring Cape May
By Anonymous on Thursday, June 15, 2006

Visitor Review
We decided to spend our new year's weekend at congress hall this year and have already booked our next stay over valentines weekend. The hotel was absolutely lovely. Our room was gorgeous with bright blues and whites... Giving us a beachy feel before we looked out our window and saw the ocean right in front of us. The boiler room and brown room (bar & lounge) have a nice contemporary feel, without being out of place with the gorgeous history of the rest of the hotel. The beds and pillows were dreamy beyond our expectations and the staff was warm and anxious to please their guests. Cant wait to enjoy this lovely point of winter solitude again in february.

After a great trip last year, I did not hesitate to book again this year! From the hip nightclub in the basement to her soaring overhanging roof, this hotel is a destination. The beach is right across the street. The staff and the other guests were simply terrific and friendly. You'll find a gorgeous vintage structure with great dining inside. Right across the street an internet cafe and the great shops and restaurants of downtown cape may. They rent bikes in the hotel and the pool is immaculate and huge! Everyone is very helpful. My little girl loved to walk the halls and the sidewalks with me and my wife. There are families with kids. The shops inside are great also. I used spa services for an excellent massage. This year I want to golf! It is truly a step up from anything else! Enjoy.

We have just returned from a weekend getaway at congress hall. It was the most relaxing weekend we have had in a long time. Congress hall staff goes to great lengths to make sure their guests are totally satisfied. The rooms and beds are so comfortable and cozy we had a tough time leaving. We ate breakfast and dinner at the blue pig tavern and would highly reccommend it to anyone even if they are not staying at congress hall. Be sure to have cocktails in the brown room, they have great live jazz and fast, friendly bartenders.congress hall is elegant, fun, and relaxing. We can not wait to go back.

Good and Bad
By Anonymous on Thursday, June 15, 2006

Visitor Review
My husband and i decided to get away for a night and booked a room at congress hall. The entire reason for going during the "off" season was for relaxation and unfortunately our stay here did not allow for this to happen. There was a huge wedding the night that we had booked. First let me start by saying that when i booked the hotel i was offered an upgraded room for 50 dollars more. I was not told that the room would be directly over the reception hall and that the reception entrance door was right under our window. The wedding did not end until 11pm which ended up technically being midnight since it was daylights savings time. The guests of the wedding were complete jerks. They acted like they owned the entire hotel, which technically i am sure they did for that night anyway. I am sure they paid an enormous amout of money as they were incredibly wealthy individuals. The parking lot was full of high end cars and they were catered to (as rich people feel they need to be!) While i feel the other guests were disregarded. This hotel has a major noise problem. Also there was a couple with a newborn in the room next to ours. The take home message is make sure that there is not a wedding occurring on the dates you plan on visiting this hotel or noisy people in the room next to you. Overall the hotel was very nice. It was a little "stuffy". Keep in mind we usually stay at fine hotels. My husband and i appear young and are very casual, although we are both physicians.

Room was small. No coffee pot. No breakfast. Better ammenities at hotels at other resorts lower priced. Will not go back. Not worth the money. Windows don't open - caulked closed - but one of ours had a 1 inch gap that had some weather stripping in it. Wind off the ocean whistled through -loud and cold.

Excellent Place To Stay In Cape May
By Anonymous on Tuesday, June 13, 2006

Visitor Review
Very nice room (big, two queen beds). Bathroom: big enough for a family; watch your feet in the shower/bathtub (curtain to big); lamps' covering blocking light above chest (shaving more difficult). Tv channels must be improved (more variety, lacking foreign channels). Good dinning experience at the (blue pig tavern) restaurant - good food, and service. Hotel was under renovation (mainly painting).

We were very pleased and satsified with our stay at congress hall. It was close to the shops, the beach and all the wonderful old victorian homes in cape may. Our room was lovely and stocked with plenty of pillows, towels, etc. The front desk person was extremely helpful. I was trying to avoid the bed and breakfasts of cape may, and congress hall seemed like the best hotel online, and it ended up being true. Old historic buildling renovated nicely, with really comfy beds, and really cool funky hotel bar (and club (?) "the boiler room" - which I didn't get to see in action due to my thursday night stay). Everything was clean and nice, but you could tell part of it was old (but hardly noticed). Right on the water, so great view too. My thursday rate was great, but couldn't stay friday night because the weekend rate was too high.
