Wow! Its A.C'S Best Kept Secret!

I thought the hotel was very nice, extremely comfortable, I think this hotel is one of atlantic city's best kept secrets. The room was a two room junior suite (we thought we were just getting your basic standard room) turns out all the rooms are junior suites in the madison house. Two full bathrooms, one with a victorian soaking tub, the other will a full shower, beds were very comfortable. We had three people in the room and had plenty of room. The fresh coffee in the room was a definate plus. The fact that its connected to the sands via a walkway is also a major plus as it was raining when we stayed. The hall way did smell a little musty, but we figures that was a summer time; beach hotel standard..it was pretty humid outside. We also ate a rossi's in the sands, which was a gourmet italian restaurant, it was also excellent.

I Had A Great Night!!!

I spent a wonderful sunday (10/3/2004) night at the madison house. When i called the sands to book a room, they told me that they were full and asked if i would take one in the madison house. Saying yes is something that i don't regret. I had read nightmare stories about late check-ins and dirty rooms so i didn't know what to expect. We arrived in atlantic city at about 1:00 pm, several hours ahead of our check-in time of 4:00 pm. We left our bags in the car and stopped at the front desk to find out a definite check-in time so that we could enjoy the casino and boardwalk for a few hours. Much to our surprise, we were able to check in at 1:00 pm and were given a perfectly cleaned room. It was a two room suite with a king size bed, two televisions and two large closets. The girl who checked me in was very polite as were all of the other staff that i ran into during our stay. I have stayed in many hotels that may have been more elegant but cost a great deal more, while my room was a comp., the regular price for this room is well worth it. Ironically, when i booked the room, i was unaware of the pending local 54 strike. Since my husband is a union bricklayer, we were also pleasantly surprised that the sands employees were not involved in the strike. We had a great time and would recommend the madison house to anyone. I look forward to our next visit!!

Good for The Price, But Could Be Better

Just returned home from a weekend in atlantic city, and we stayed at madison house. We had booked through hotels.com, and i was expecting to be in the sands. No biggie, but was a bit confused upon arrival. We wanted to stay at one of the casinos, and all the research i did said this was the most affordable. For the price we paid (compared to the prices of the other casinos, i guess this was ok. There were some problems, though. We had requested a king smoking room, and found that madison is all nonsmoking. Funny thing, though, was that the hallways and our room clearly smelled of smoke. And if i, as a smoker, could tell, i'm sure it would really bother a nonsmoker. The bed was typical comfort level for the price range. There was no clock in the room--inconvenient, but not too big a deal. There was only enough coffee for one serving, but more was brought upon request. The curtains in the bedroom couldn't be fully closed to block light (we travel with clothspins for just such an emergency!). The bathroom had a couple of problems. The large plastic light fixture was almost falling off the ceiling, and had water in it. The bathtub had one of those after-market tub remodeling covers on it, which didn't fit well, so the square-bottom tubfitter didn't fully fill the round-bottom tub. Potentially dangerous for someone without good balance. Would i stay there again? Not sure.

It Was Alright

I stayed at the madison house last year for three nights. I thought the room would be much nicer than it was. The photos I seen on the web were very decieving. I walked into the room and the first thing I noticed was the stained carpet. The view was of a dumpy looking street and we had people fighting in front of the hotel. Didn't feel real safe. For the money we spent it was alright. I wouldn't stay there again the bathroom was not the greatest and I don't think our sheets were changed from the last guests we had to request new sheets. That was really gross.

Never Again

We've stayed several times at the sands, but this time we were put up at the madison house. First of all, it was confusing finding out how to enter the mh from the sands. We had a suite, which would have been nice, except that the heater was broken, there was a terrible draft through the window, made worse by the fact that the drapes were broken on one side. When the heater could not be fixed until the next day, we were offered another room, except that there was only a king bed available - for my mother and i!! We took it, and when we got to our new room, three light bulbs were burned out. When we complained the next morning, the manager said there was nothing he could do (about compensation) since our room was already comped.
