The Worst, But The Best..

Visitor Review
Well this place (claridge looks like a old appartment or project building lol.. When I started going to ac me and my friend would go to the claridge just for some laughs I mean I would play but it's dirty, slot techs have double duties etc..so me and him were there one summer nite and I got 20 worth of dollar coins as we were laughing at the claridge saying only at the clar does the slot tecniticians serve drinks and clean the floor which is true I hit for $989.00 in a dollar machine first pull, first game.. Then I didn't make that much fun after and I booked a room for that nite, well.. The walls were spat on, carpets stained, real small bathroom with pubic hair on the toliet yuck...:( this place is a dump but it did pay me a grand something I thought would never happen... But it did! $115.00 was the price of or for the room. Don't stay here unless you want to leave with some kinda parasite lol..the casino itself isnt that bad really, but the lobby smells like cat (-) always have, the should knock it down! The sad thing is if the big one (hurricane ever hot ac the clar and sands would be the only casino standing..well thats what I think... If you need any info on ac hotels I'm a expert e-mail me xxaprilsfinestxx@aol.com! Ps now that i'm thinking my friend saw a mouse run through one of the floors hallways I think 6 or 7 the floor before the hidden pool! Resorts is a cool place, the games are fair peopel nice, comps good you don't have to be a big player to get a free room and brunch for 2. I would get sent this all the time in the mail or they would approach ask how my time was going, it's old school charm/class. Take care, jon!

Best for Your Buck!

I have stayed at the claridge casino hotel for my last three visits. The first and third visit where great. Nice clean rooms and yes the bathrooms are not a dance hall but they are ok. The second time I had my parents with me and i'm not sure if it was the location of the room (end of the hallway) but I have to say I did not sleep at all. The noise level was just too much. What I like most of all is that you have three different casinos to play in (penneyville, the main bally's and wild wild west ) and with elderly parents they get a varity of casinos and dinners but really never have to go outside when the weather is bad. I would recommend the claridge.

Did Not Enjoy The Claridge

Room was small and carpet appeared to not have been vacuumed prior to our entering the room. Bed skirt was water stained. Were there 2 nights and both nights there was a group of really loud, inconsiderate "people" that must have thought they had the entire wing to themselves. Food was okay. Gaming was fun. However, would probably not stay at the claridge again.

Clean But Not Perfect

The place was clean and comfortable. I put the bulk of this review under bally's because it is connected with it, but as for the claridge the only thing that bothered me is that the staff was trying to fix the tub when we walked in....they were not successful. After 30 seconds of showering, the tub was half full. Despite this matter, I would stay there again with no problem but only if the room was under $200.

Claridge Is Okay By Me

Visitor Review
My husband and I just returned from staying overnight for the second time this year at the claridge. Both times, the rooms were clean, decent size, and comfortable (in fact, the woman who checked us in said that the claridge rooms were most recently renovated, as compared to bally's). This time we were actually in a larger than average oceanfront room. And both times these rooms were comps!

Wouldn'T Go Again -- Even for Free

A comped room offered by bally's turned out, at check-in, to be in the claridge. (should have known -- we're hardly high rollers.) It's an old hotel, and while some things have been upgraded, there is still a lot wrong with it. Dark, dingy rooms (probably to hide the carpet stains), tired-looking chairs, small old-fashioned bathroom with no ventilation, a loooooonnnggg walk from the bally's check-in desk. One elevator made such a funny noise in transit that we were afraid to take it again. The walls must be paper-thin; coughing in the next room sounded like it was at our bedside. No coffeemaker! There was a wall-mounted hair dryer, and adequate toiletries and towels. The ac also worked well. (yes, we had to cool the room in february!)

Claridge Not Where I Want To Be
By Anonymous on Friday, June 16, 2006

Visitor Review
My friend and I decided to do a guys night out in ac. I booked a room at bally's approximately 2 months in advance (couldn't use a comp because of the holiday) at a rate of about $800 for 3 nights. This seemed pretty fair given bally's nice rooms, but to my surprise when we checked in (which took about 1.5 hours) I was told that the towers were full and that we'd be in the claridge. My first reaction was 'how bad can it be for $260 a night?' we were also wondering how early do you have to get there to be able to actually stay in bally's (since checkin isn't until 4).

Love the garden cafe. Room was clean and spacious, with a great view of the park and ocean. Central location on the boardwalk is another plus. Staff was cordial and I really enjoyed my 2 night stay.

Let It Rain!
By Anonymous on Friday, June 16, 2006

Visitor Review
In reading an article about the facelift given several of the older hotels in atlantic city, I was surprised to see no mention of either the dennis or the claridge, both of which appear to be completely refurbished. While rooms in the former (we stayed there last december) were small, my wife and I thought them elegantly redone; one feature, minor to many but to lie-in-bed readers a definate luxury, was the his-and-her halogen spotlights above the headboard. As for the claridge, we had an ocean front room on the 18th floor, with spectacular views of the ocean. Despite the rain that has been inundating the area for the last month, we thought the room cheery and comfortable; everything was immaculately clean--except for the windows, but what can you do about them in this weather! Both hotels are integrated with bally's, and we had no problem transitioning among them (or to caesar's, connected on the south end). The virginia city buffet was excellent; it's the third time we've eaten there, and the wait is worth it (steak broiled your way, great soups and shrimp, terrific egg rolls, and scrumptious desserts like rum-flavored bread pudding). Finally, I have to commend the staff--the courteous parking attendant who took our $2, the ubiquitous and friendly security personnel, the pleasant and competent employees in the restaurants and at the reservation desks--and the priority bally's obviously gives to training them for helping make my wife's birthday memorable. So what if it rained!

I dinned at the claridge and was amazed and not surprised, the service, food was excellant, the hotel staff was great. Years ago I always occupied the penthouse when it was owned by anthony p. Miller. The claridge still remains one of the great hotels.

Nice First Time Experience

Our first trip to atlantic city, we chose the claridge due to its central location. Was very pleased with the recently redone tower room with ocean view. Staff was very courteous, loved the intimate feel of the claridge. Its location on the boardwalk a definite plus. Food was great, comps sufficient, are planning our second trip and will stay at the claridge.

Last of The 'Old World Charm
By Anonymous on Friday, June 16, 2006

I've been staying here for the past decade! It's a great place for the 'medium/small-time' gambler since a dollar gets you more of a rating here than at one of the huge, impersonal casino properties.... That is until lately. Now "park place entertainment" [aka: bally's] owns the hotel/casino, [now called "claridge tower at bally's"] and has managed to strip the place of most of its charm!! Still it's a nice place to visit, and if you have a 'compcard' you will accumulate 'comp points' that are accepted at any of the bally's properties! The employees are fun to deal with... At least the ones left over from the old "claridge" days, where the motto was "where smaller is friendlier." go for it!!! Book a room. Have some fun! Eat a fifty dollar steak!!.. Whatever!-- you deserve a vacation! The best time of year to visit is summer, of course, since you're not 'trapped' inside'. Your money will stretch alot further!! Remember there is an ocean and beach right outside the door!!!

Great hotel! This hotel is a part of bally's. Usually I am given a room here when I use coupons for free rooms that are sent to me. I have stayed in the tower (ballys) and personally think that the rooms at claridge are more up to date.

Shock At The Appearance of The Room

I have stayed at alot of casino hotels in atlantic city and wanted to try the claridge casino hotel, my sister had comp for a room. So I stayed with her there.the room looked like a cheap motel room. The carpert had water marks and wornout. The room was moldy. The bed was old and uncomfatable. I was very disappointed in the room. These rooms are not cheep. I could pay way less for a low class hotel and get a better room. We change room and got about the same kind of room with the same problems.we checked out the next morning and check into another hotel.the claridge casino is still one of my favorate casino.

Unrested and Disappointed

We made reservations through hotel for bally's and was surprised to see upon check-in that we were being put up in the claridge. Recently renovated??!? No way!!The bathroom wall paper was peeling off, the vents were rusted, and it was so small that my husband had to sit at 90 degrees to use the toilet. His legs hit the sink in front of him. (he's only 6 ft). Mine just made it. The carpet looked like it was there since the 70's. It was a dingy, and dirty looking cream color. At 2 a.m. I was awaken by housekeeping, who had a linen closet around the corner. They were jingling their keys and chatting up a storm. I was very patient. But every time I'd just doze off, they'de come back and you'd hear the keys, chatting, and the door slamming. Finally, I called downstairs. They said they'd call them. 4 a.m., it's still going on. I finally called the main desk and threatened bodily injury to the housekeeping crew if I heard them again. I was outraged. They asked me if I wanted to switch rooms....at 4 a.m. I said, "no. But tomorrow a.m. I will." when I went to compllain to management the next morning, he told me there were no other rooms and I would have to take my complaint up with the third party I made reservations with (hotel). I think they could have been a little more accomodating.will never stay at claridge again.

Yuk! Have gambled here on occasion but never stayed here! Now I know why. I had a room reserved at bally's, but they overbooked due to a boxing match. I was put in the claridge tower. Never again! The rooms were old, threadbare and tiny! The bathroom was so small my husband (a normal sized person!) Could barely squeeze in. The window was dirty, which helped to block the view of a filthy rooftop covered with trash and broken items. The room, hallway and elevators reeked of smoke. Even through the room was comped it was an insult to be put there. I will never stay in the claridge again, and I haven't yet forgiven bally's for sticking us there. It was not worth the drive to ac - believe me stay elsewhere!

Claridge At Bally'S-A Very Nice Experience

Stayed with my fiancee on the eighth floor of the claridge hotel in the bally's hotel complex. Also located on the eighth floor is a small yet beautiful pool and spa free for hotel guests, yet undiscovered by most. Claridge room had an ocean and boardwalk view, comfortable king bed, nice furniture and television, overall very nice! We also used the pool and jacuzzis at bally's at no charge, which I must tell you are just magnificent!
