About the New Jersey Shore

The New Jersey Shore is a favorite vacation destination for many families.

Atlantic City, New Jersey ShoreAtlantic City, New Jersey
Atlantic City is always turned on -- you can find something to do any time of day or night! Atlantic City is home to twelve amazing resorts that offer slot machines and table games. But that's not all! The casinos feature fantastic live entertainment from top names in music and comedy, plus high-end shopping and luxurious spa retreats. Atlantic City also has a badge-free beach and boardwalk, complete with rides on Steel Pier and redemption arcades.

Avalon, New Jersey ShoreAvalon, New Jersey
In Avalon, life is cooler by a mile. The town's beaches actually stretch one mile farther into the Atlantic Ocean than other surrounding shore resorts. Avalon is more laid back in atmosphere -- not as much nightlife, not as many people crowding the beaches. The town offers lots of fun, free family activities and great shopping.

Cape May, New Jersey ShoreCape May, New Jersey
Cape May is one of New Jersey's oldest and most elegant vacation destinations. Here you can stay in a restored Victorian bed and breakfast, tour and shop in the historic district, and rent a bike for a ride through the streets. Less of a family getaway and more of a romantic couples spot, a lot of Cape May bed and breakfasts have age restrictions for guests. The dining is more elegant, the shopping is more upscale.

Ocean City, New Jersey ShoreOcean City, New Jersey
America's Greatest Family Resort! Eight miles of beaches, two miles of boardwalk, and a total focus on family entertainment. The boardwalk has everything you'd expect -- towering Ferris wheel, water park, arcades, mini golf, games of chance, restaurants, and plenty of shopping. Ocean City also offers lots of great family activities on the boardwalk and at the Arts Center and Music Pier. You won't find a whole lot of nightlife here, but with Atlantic City just twenty minutes away, Ocean City doesn't really need it.

Sea Isle City, New Jersey ShoreSea Isle City, New Jersey
Sea Isle City has a lot in common with Wildwood and Atlantic City. It has a paved promenade instead of a boardwalk, it has the rides and amusements, it has the arcades and mini-golf… it's just a little bit smaller. That doesn't mean Sea Isle City lacks nightlife -- the town has lots of options for entertainment after dark. The town also offers free summer concerts and has many opportunities for boating, fishing, crabbing, and water sports.

Stone Harbor, New Jersey ShoreStone Harbor, New Jersey
Stone Harbor is another laid back family vacation destination. The beaches are wide and clean and well-guarded -- and far less crowded than Wildwood. Just steps from the beach you'll find great shopping and dining, and the community offers a variety of recreational activities like tennis, basketball, arts and crafts, and more. Stone Harbor is also home to the Wetlands Institute and a Bird Observatory, two great places to explore the native New Jersey flora and fauna.

Stone Harbor, New Jersey ShoreNorth Wildwood, New Jersey
North Wildwood is a little bit quieter than Wildwood, but still offers a lot of the same attractions -- free beaches, a modest boardwalk, and lots of family fun. You'll find the North Wildwood beaches a little less crowded than the Wildwood ones. The town offers lots of family-oriented entertainment throughout the summer. North Wildwood is known for its salt-water fishing -- more than a hundred boats leave the five mile long island daily.

Wildwood, New Jersey ShoreWildwood, New Jersey
The first thing you'll hear about in Wildwood is the boardwalk. It stretches two miles long, has three amusement piers and two water parks, plus the usual boardwalk arcades, games of chance, shopping, and concession stands. Wildwood is a very popular vacation destination between June and September. The beaches are free, the lodging is plentiful, you'll find lots of restaurants, and there is a very active nightlife. Just about everything you need is within walking distance -- Wildwood shares a five mile long barrier island with Wildwood Crest and North Wildwood.

Wildwood Crest, New Jersey ShoreWildwood Crest, New Jersey
Wildwood Crest leaves the boardwalk excitement to nearby Wildwood, but offers the same great, free beaches. Wildwood Crest is a great place for spotting Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins playing in the water. No boardwalk here, but there's plenty of action at Sunset Lake -- free concerts, water sports, and legendary sunsets. Not much nightlife in Wildwood Crest, but the Wildwood boardwalk and bars are within walking distance.
